Greener Burn is a collective of Alberta burners working together to reduce pollution and waste from the Freezer Burn event as much as possible. This encompasses EVERYTHING from event operations to particpant’s camp construction, energy usage, waste management and more!

Not only will these efforts help lessen the substantial environmental footprint our event produces but it will also help make Freezer Burn more financially-accessible for everyone in the long term.

Greener Burn is an open-source initiative, meaning that the action comes from you, because lasting social movements start with the passion of their community members. This initiative provides the group support you'll need, so you don't need any special education or experience! Your ideas and passion to make them happen can take many different forms, including but not limited to:

• Being a Camp Change-Maker!
  • Managing your own or your camp's waste more ecologically, such as through compost collection (Expand the Leave No Trace principle!)
  • Transitioning your camp's electrical and heating systems to 100% solar power (with an optional fossil fuel backup generator, if needed)
• Become a Salvage Savant (aka Eco-Minded Artist)
  • Make art that reuses or up-cycles existing materials or uses renewable energy
  • Brag about the reduced carbon-footprint of your work
  • Inspire others to take action!
• Make your mutant vehicle into an EMV (Electric Mutant Vehicle!)
